Summary
- This site and its AI assistant are free to use. Sending the assistant a message, or sending its contact form, means you agree to these terms.
- The assistant is AI, not a person. It runs an open model on hardware we operate. It can be wrong, and it is not legal, financial, medical, engineering, or other professional advice.
- Nothing the assistant says is an offer, a quote, or a commitment by Robinson Labs. Only a signed agreement binds us.
- Don’t abuse the site or the assistant: no scraping at scale, no attacks on the assistant or our systems, no illegal content.
- We can rate-limit, block, change, or shut off the assistant at any time.
- Our content is ours. You can quote journal posts with attribution.
- The site and the assistant are provided as is, without warranties.
- Because the site is free, our liability is capped at $100 or what you paid us, whichever is greater.
- Paid client work runs under a separate written agreement, not these terms.
- These terms are governed by North Carolina law. If you have a problem, email us first.
1. Who we are
Robinson Labs LLC (“Robinson Labs,” “we,” “us”) is a North Carolina limited liability company and technology consulting firm.
These terms cover your use of robinsonlabs.ai and its subdomains, including assistant.robinsonlabs.ai (together, the “Site”), and of the Robinson Labs AI assistant (the “assistant”) wherever it appears, including on stephenrobinson.dev. How we handle data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
If you have a signed services agreement with us, see Section 11. These terms do not govern that work.
2. Agreeing to these terms
The assistant and its contact form each show a notice, where you type or submit, that links to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. Sending a message or the form means you agree to these terms. The rest of the Site is offered on the same terms, which are linked at the foot of every page. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the assistant or the Site.
The Site is meant for a general and business audience and is not directed to children under 13.
3. The AI assistant
The assistant lets you type questions and get answers generated by an open AI model that Robinson Labs runs on hardware it operates. The Privacy Policy explains where your messages go and what is kept.
Things you should know:
- It is an AI, not a person. You are chatting with software, not with Stephen Robinson or anyone else at Robinson Labs. Nobody at Robinson Labs sees your conversation unless you send it through the contact form described below, apart from the short log excerpt described in the Privacy Policy.
- It can be wrong. The assistant produces AI-generated text. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or simply made up. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
- It is not professional advice. Nothing the assistant says is legal, financial, tax, medical, engineering, or other professional advice. For those questions, talk to a qualified professional.
- It is not a contract. Statements by the assistant about pricing, availability, capabilities, scope, or timelines are not offers, quotes, or commitments by Robinson Labs. Only a signed agreement binds us. If something the assistant said matters to a decision you are making, confirm it with us in writing first.
- Keep confidential things out of it. We do not keep transcripts, but your messages pass through our service providers and our own systems to produce a reply, and a short excerpt may be logged as described in the Privacy Policy. Don’t type anything into the assistant that you need kept confidential.
- Input is limited. Messages are length-limited, and requests that arrive too quickly are refused.
- It may go away. We may rate-limit, throttle, block, modify, or discontinue the assistant at any time, for any reason, without notice.
If you submit the contact form inside the assistant, you are asking us to contact you. Your name, your email address or phone number, and the messages you typed in that chat are sent to Robinson Labs so we can follow up.
4. The news page
The news page is a daily digest of AI and technology news that automated systems running on hardware we operate select and summarize from third-party reporting. Summaries can be incomplete or wrong, so follow the link to the original source before you rely on one. Including a story is not an endorsement of it or of its source. We may change the format, frequency, or content of the news page, or stop publishing it, at any time.
Corrections. If a summary about you or your business is wrong, email [email protected] with the link. We review every report and promptly correct or remove summaries that are inaccurate.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site or assistant for anything illegal, or to generate, request, or distribute illegal content.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse anyone through the assistant or its contact form, including submitting false or other people’s contact information.
- Submit sensitive personal information to the assistant, such as government ID numbers, financial account or card numbers, passwords, or health information, whether it is yours or someone else’s.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the Site or assistant beyond what ordinary browsing or a reasonable feed reader does. Automated access at scale is not allowed without written permission.
- Attack, probe, or try to copy the assistant or the systems behind it. That includes prompt-injection or jailbreak attempts, trying to extract system prompts, configuration, model weights, or other non-public information, scanning our infrastructure, getting around rate limits or other protections, and using the assistant to build a dataset or train another model.
- Interfere with the Site’s operation or other people’s use of it.
We may investigate violations and may block, rate-limit, or report abusive use without notice.
6. Our content
Unless otherwise noted, the content on the Site (text, design, code, images, and the assistant’s configuration) is copyright Robinson Labs LLC or Stephen Robinson. All rights reserved.
You may:
- Read and link to anything on the Site.
- Quote journal and news posts, with attribution to Robinson Labs and a link back to the source page.
- Subscribe to our feeds with a personal feed reader.
You may not republish entire posts, remove attribution, or present our content as your own.
Third-party content we link to or summarize (for example, the articles behind the news page) belongs to its respective owners.
7. Your content
Anything you type into the assistant or submit through its contact form is yours. By submitting it, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it to operate the Site and the assistant: to generate responses, to follow up on your request to be contacted, to debug problems, and to prevent abuse. We do not use your messages to train models, and we do not publish them.
You are responsible for what you submit. Don’t submit confidential information, other people’s personal data, or anything you don’t have the right to share.
8. Third-party links and services
The Site links to other websites and relies on third-party services (listed in the Privacy Policy). We don’t control those sites or services and aren’t responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Following a link is at your own risk.
9. No warranty
The Site and the assistant are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any promise that they will be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that the assistant’s answers or the news page will be accurate, complete, or useful.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Robinson Labs LLC, its owner, and anyone working on its behalf will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the Site or reliance on the assistant, even if we were told such damages were possible.
Because the Site and the assistant are offered free of charge, our total liability to you for all claims relating to them is capped at the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the amount you paid Robinson Labs for use of the Site in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, or any liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
11. Client services are separate
If Robinson Labs designs, builds, deploys, operates, or advises on a system for you under contract, that work is governed by the separate written agreement you signed with us (and any statement of work under it), not by these terms. Where these terms and that agreement conflict, the agreement controls for that work.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The new version applies only to use of the Site or the assistant after its “Last updated” date, and the notices next to the chat and the contact form will link to it. A change never applies to a dispute that arose before the change.
13. Ending use
You can stop using the Site and the assistant at any time. We can suspend or end your access to the Site or the assistant at any time, with or without cause.
14. Governing law, notice, and venue
North Carolina law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please email [email protected] describing the problem and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. Any lawsuit about the Site or the assistant must be filed in the state courts of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (including small claims court where the claim qualifies) or the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and both of us consent to those courts. Nothing in these terms waives your right to a jury trial.
15. Severability and the rest
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site and the assistant. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information; it is a notice, not part of this agreement. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor of the business.
