AMD reports record $13.4 billion quarter driven by data center boom

AMD's largest and most profitable quarter ever, with data center revenue hitting $8.5 billion, and the company now expects data center to account for over 80% of total revenue by 2027.

CEO Lisa Su declared Q3 2026 was "the largest and most profitable in our history" on the company's earnings call, as AMD reported a record $13.4 billion in quarterly revenue and forecast another record quarter of $17 billion for Q4. CFO Jean Hu said the company expects data center to comprise more than 80 percent of revenue by 2027, up from the current 63 percent. The growth was almost entirely driven by the data center segment, which added $1.8 billion to revenue year-over-year.

The flip side: AMD's gaming business plunged 40 percent to $773 million, hurt by RAM component shortages driven by AI data center demand and broader consumer PC softness. Su cautioned that 2027 will be a "down year" for consumer markets, though overall company growth will be driven by data center demand.

Canva cuts 22% of its workforce amid growth slowdown

The design platform is laying off 1,271 employees and reorganizing its structure as it contends with slowing growth, ballooning AI costs, and rising competition from AI-native startups.

Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins wrote to employees that Canva has experienced its "hardest year yet" and its first growth slowdown in a decade. The company is merging its product, growth, and platform teams to reduce communication friction, reducing "subspecialization," and shifting to a hybrid work model. Canva also cut its revenue growth forecast to 20% from 30% earlier this year to address high AI costs, and early investors had already slashed its valuation to roughly $35 billion.

Canva faces intensifying competition from AI-native design startups and general-purpose chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, whose image generation capabilities now make it easy for consumers to produce posters and presentations without specialized software.

Google struggles to monetize AI search despite record traffic growth

Alphabet's Q3 earnings revealed that while search queries are growing at their fastest rate in five years, AI-driven search is monetizing at a significantly lower rate than traditional search, creating tension between massive $200 billion infrastructure investments and current returns.

Google Search revenue growth slowed to 12% year-over-year in Q3 2026, down from roughly 17% in the previous quarter, as paid click growth decelerated from 13% to 8%. Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler attributed the slowdown primarily to currency effects, but acknowledged that AI Mode queries "monetize at a lower rate" than traditional searches. The fundamental risk is that AI summaries satisfy user intent directly on the results page, reducing click-through rates to advertiser sites — a critical metric since Google's ad revenue depends on clicks.

Analyst Nate Elliott called this "the first major disruption that Google is facing to its core business in decades," noting that while Google successfully navigated the mobile transition, the path to profitable conversational advertising remains unclear. Alphabet shares have fallen approximately 14% since the earnings report.

Nexus Mods mandates AI disclosure for all new mod uploads

The largest PC gaming mod repository announced that authors must now declare whether AI was used in their work, and "AI-assisted" mods must include a public explanation of how and where AI was deployed, with a 60-day grace period ending January 2nd.

Site owner Victor "Foledinho" Folmann said Nexus Mods is "pro-human creativity" but "won’t introduce an outright ban on AI-generated mods" because AI is already used throughout the creation process, from script autocompletion to texture generation. Rather than driving it underground, the site wants AI use "out in the open, clearly labelled, and regulated." Mods tagged as AI-assisted will need to explain how and where AI was used, and Nexus Mods will add more prominent tagging and filtering controls, including the ability to hide AI-generated content from game pages and the homepage.

The site also announced it will not use mods to train AI models and will not sell or license them to AI companies, while working on stronger attribution controls for mods that incorporate other authors' work.

Mistral Large 4 uses 133 agents to triage, reproduce, and patch a real Django vulnerability

Mistral AI demonstrated its new open-weight model running a full end-to-end security workflow on a freshly patched CVE, deploying 133 specialized agents to map code, locate the flaw, simulate attacks, reproduce the issue, and generate a fix.

The demonstration, released on November 4th, one day after Django shipped its own security updates addressing memory exhaustion and log injection vulnerabilities, showed the model breaking the vulnerability lifecycle into specialized roles coordinated through multi-agent orchestration. Security teams call the sequence triage, reproduction, and patching. Mistral shared the run as a time-lapse video sped up to 90x.

The open-weight release of Large 4 on October 30th means anyone can download the model and run it on their own infrastructure — a key selling point for companies wary of sending proprietary code to external APIs. Mistral emphasized a safety measure: the model refused over 96% of malicious cyber prompts during benchmarking, positioning Large 4 as a tool for defensive security automation rather than offensive exploitation.

ServiceNow Raises AI Target to $1.7 Billion, But Q4 Guidance Misses

ServiceNow reported strong Q3 2026 subscription revenue of $3.988 billion, up 21 percent year-over-year, and lifted its full-year AI contract value goal to $1.7 billion from $1.5 billion. The stock fell sharply because fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $4.25 to $4.26 billion missed consensus estimates of $4.36 billion. cRPO stood at $13.65 billion, and management also announced expanded partnerships with Google Cloud on Gemini Enterprise integrations and an OpenAI ChatGPT plugin with planned Codex integration into the AI Workflow Factory.

Chamath Palihapitiya: The Real Target of AI Disruption Is Not Salesforce or ServiceNow

After ServiceNow fell 34 percent in five trading days to Oct. 30 and 81 percent of software stocks declined, Chamath Palihapitiya argued in an analysis that the market is selling the wrong stocks. He contends that AI labs like OpenAI and Anthropic will first displace AI-native startups that resell their tokens, since labs have the model traces and zero-marginal-cost advantage to build competing applications directly. Incumbents like ServiceNow and Salesforce, as deep "systems of record" with $22.8 billion in projected 2028 revenue, are harder targets — but Palihapitiya warns the next wave of disruption will hit the "connective tissue" workflow applications that both companies sell.

Motley Fool Picks ServiceNow Over Adobe for 2027 on Growth and AI Risk

The Motley Fool's comparison pits ServiceNow against Adobe, concluding that ServiceNow's 20.9 percent revenue growth and lower exposure to AI-first cloning risks outweigh Adobe's cheaper valuation of 10.2 times forward earnings versus ServiceNow's 26.6 times. ServiceNow provides services and workflow automation rather than software that can be compiled and reverse-engineered, placing it one step away from the "incoming storm of epic proportions" of generative AI tools that could clone Adobe's Creative Cloud products. Adobe's free AI-generated clones currently make up just 2.4 percent of its $27.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, but the competitive risk is structural.

Open-Source ITSM Add-On Discovery Is Fragmented Across Six Locations

An in-depth analysis by Tobias Bück, founder of Open Ticket AI, documents how add-ons for open-source ITSM platforms — Znuny, OTOBO, Zammad, and KIX — are not hard to find because they don't exist, but because there is no shared catalog or authoritative metadata layer. Discovery is scattered across vendor shops, GitHub and GitLab repos, legacy archives, forums, private forks, and comparison blogs. The article warns that the .opm package format is not interchangeable between forks, and provides a six-step evaluation checklist for IT operators to separate installable add-ons from ones that actually operate in production.
