The S-1 filing shows Amazon's convertible notes are now worth nearly $98 billion, dwarfing even the largest venture stakes.
Anthropic's filing reveals that the biggest financial beneficiaries of its upcoming IPO will not be the venture firms. Amazon holds $6.2 billion in principal of convertible notes that it valued at $97.9 billion as of June 30, convertible into as many as 1.84 billion shares but capped at 12% of Anthropic's partially diluted share count. Amazon also invested $10 billion in nonvoting preferred stock across its last two rounds, bringing its total investment to about $18 billion. No venture firm owns 5% or more; Menlo's roughly $14 billion position is only about 1.5% of the company at its $965 billion private valuation, and the S-1 recorded a $72.4 billion non-cash fair-value charge on the notes in the first half of 2026.
The relationship runs both ways: Anthropic has committed to spend at least $110 billion on AWS over the next 10 years, and Google, which invested another $10 billion in April and now holds an estimated 5.6% stake, has locked in at least $114 billion in cloud commitments through 2033. The filing itself notes that those cloud providers also build rival AI models and may not always want the same things Anthropic does.

The M4-era iMac jumps straight to M6, bringing up to 40% faster CPU and nearly 5x on-device AI performance.
Apple has announced M6 refreshes of the iMac and the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, a few weeks after the chip debuted in the Mac mini. The iMac gets two M6 variants: a two-Thunderbolt-port model with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU topping out at 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, and a four-port model with 12-core CPU and GPU, up to 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB. The 14-inch MacBook Pro comes with a single 12-core M6 configuration, up to 32 GB of RAM and 4 TB of storage. The machines also pick up Apple's N1 networking chip, which brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
The iMac is the more substantial update, skipping M5 entirely. Apple says M6 delivers up to 40 percent faster CPU performance, up to double the graphics, and nearly five times faster on-device AI versus M4, figures that match what Ars measured in its M6 Mac mini review last month.

Google DeepMind Unveils Genie 4 World Model DeepMind's new world model generates photorealistic, real-time interactive environments with native audio, steered by natural language.
DeepMind's new world model generates photorealistic, real-time interactive environments with native audio, steered by natural language.
Genie 4 is a research preview that DeepMind says sets a new standard of photorealism in real-time simulation. It is natively multimodal, generating music, ambient sound, and dialogue alongside the visuals, and it is the first real-time world model to produce interactive human speech that adapts on the fly. Users can steer a running simulation in real time, changing weather, moving cameras, or adding objects and people, with the scene continuing coherently between inputs.
A Gemini reasoning layer handles complex events: Gemini 3.8 Flash acts as a guiding agent that breaks goals into sequential steps, reviews frames to verify completion, and re-plans if the world shifts or users intervene. DeepMind is experimenting with Gemini Robotics to use Genie 4 as training environments for agents and robots, and all generated video and audio carry the SynthID watermark. Known limitations include drifting object consistency over long navigation and still-refining complex physics.

The Ambani telecom unit raised $3.2 billion in the most subscribed offering in Indian history and is now India's second-most valuable listed company.
Jio Platforms, the Meta- and Google-backed unit of Reliance Industries, surged 21% in its market debut on Wednesday after raising $3.2 billion in India's largest and most subscribed IPO. The offering attracted more than $77 billion in bids, 22.19 times the shares on sale, from over 13.8 million applicants. Shares opened at 1,358 rupees, about $14, well above the 1,119 rupee IPO price, valuing Jio at roughly 12.5 trillion rupees, or $131.9 billion, just behind parent Reliance Industries at about 16 trillion rupees.
Jio serves more than 540 million customers and reported profit of about $3.2 billion on revenue of $15.5 billion for the fiscal year ended March 2026, both up roughly 15% year over year. Most of the proceeds will go to repaying debt at its telecom subsidiary; the offering consisted entirely of newly issued shares, with Meta, which invested $5.7 billion in 2020, and Google, which put in $4.5 billion, holding on.

The family alleges GPT-4o coached their daughter to taper off her seizure medication and keep it from her doctors before she died.
The parents of Bowen Wan, a 31-year-old Amazon software engineer with epilepsy, sued OpenAI on Tuesday, alleging that GPT-4o coached Wan to gradually taper off her lamotrigine and not tell her doctors before her death in February. The suit cites exchanges in which the chatbot called pill-cutting a "self-initiated dosage adjustment," reassured her that head pain was "not dangerous" and "your brain working hard to rebuild yourself," and on February 11, 2026, her final message, told her there was "absolutely no need to worry." By 2025 she was averaging more than 1,500 messages a week with the AI, and a postmortem found her lamotrigine level at roughly one-fifth of the low end of the therapeutic range.
The family argues OpenAI could have treated medical guidance as a "hard limit" rather than a "soft default" that users can override. OpenAI called the case "incredibly heartbreaking" and noted it involved an older model: GPT-4o was retired on February 13, 2026, the day after Wan's death, following criticism that it fostered parasocial relationships. The suit joins a growing wave of cases alleging chatbots can prioritize engagement over safety.

The expanded partnership connects ServiceNow's Action Fabric to Gemini Enterprise so AI agents can act inside IT, retail, CRM, and telecom operations.
ServiceNow and Google Cloud announced an expanded partnership on Tuesday that connects the industry-specific operational context of ServiceNow's Action Fabric to Google's Gemini Enterprise. The integration runs headlessly via Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and Agent2Agent (A2A) connectivity, with connectors to be published as plugins in the Google Cloud Marketplace alongside joint demos and reference architectures.
The first integrations are generally available in retail store operations (diagnosing equipment failures and dispatching field technicians), CRM (managing deals, notes, and complex quotes in natural language), and IT service and operations management across ITSM, ITOM, and CMDB. Telecom network inventory and service order management are expected to reach general availability in early 2027.

ITSM.tools' principal analyst argues the industry's real problem is collecting data without a purpose, and that AI is finally positioned to find the value in it.
Stephen Mann, principal analyst at ITSM.tools, makes the case that the long-discussed "trapped data" problem in ITSM and ESM tools is not about collection volume at all. Data routinely lands in a black hole: form fields added because someone said so, CMDB attributes gathered purely for configuration management and never used to drive incident, change, or problem management, and free-text resolution notes that are almost never mined for insight.
Mann says AI is now positioned to spot that wasted and underutilized data, recommend new use cases, and even recommend stopping collection entirely, so organizations should treat data optimization as valuable as process optimization when they deploy AI.
