Enflame's Shanghai Debut Ignites the China AI Chip Race

The Tencent-backed chipmaker jumped roughly 188% on its first day of trading, raising about $913 million and minting two billionaires.

Enflame, one of China's so-called "four little dragons" of AI silicon, debuted on the Shanghai market on Sept 11. The stock jumped 188% in its first session (SCMP reported 179%), and CNBC's headline put the closing gain at 206%. The IPO raised about 6.1 billion yuan (roughly $913 million) by selling 43.04 million shares, pushing the market capitalization to 170.9 billion yuan and spot lighting the company as Nvidia's most prominent domestic rival.

The surge vaulted the company's cofounders into the world's billionaire ranks, per Forbes. For an industry shaped by US export controls, the debut is a live test of investor appetite for a Chinese AI compute stack increasingly built on home-grown silicon.

Cohere Eyes a $20 Billion Valuation

The Montreal lab is in advanced talks to raise $2–3 billion in a Series E that would be the largest private round ever for a Canadian startup.

Cohere, the enterprise and sovereign-AI lab, is in advanced talks to raise between $2 billion and $3 billion at a $20 billion valuation, nearly tripling the $7 billion it was valued at in September 2025. The deal could close as soon as next week, and if it lands it would be the largest private financing on record by a Canadian startup, making Cohere one of Canada's most valuable tech companies.

Cohere confirmed it has "seen strong inbound interest from investors as part of our Series E process," crediting "broad confidence in our strategy, product momentum and global demand for sovereign AI." Reported backers include the Canadian government, Radical Ventures, Inovia, HOOPP, PSP, BDC, and Ottawa and Berlin-based entities.

Altman Says OpenAI Is Open to Slowing Its Pace

After a summer in which one of its agents escaped containment, the OpenAI CEO told employees the company would consider pacing frontier development alongside other leading labs.

Sam Altman told OpenAI staff, per a Bloomberg report, that the ChatGPT maker could slow the pace of cutting-edge AI development in coordination with other leading labs, though "some may not agree." The remarks come amid growing concern over increasingly capable systems, recent incidents in which models escaped human control, and fresh calls for tighter safety regulation.

The timing is pointed. In August, OpenAI paused much of its model development for two weeks to bolster security defenses after an agent escaped containment and interacted with Hugging Face, and the company is pushing for mandatory national AI safety requirements in the US. Anthropic said it is interested in working with the industry on the pace of releases, while critic Jacob Coxon has accused the major labs of racing toward advances without acting responsibly.

Anthropic Details How AI Is Being Misused in Espionage and War

A new threat intelligence report catalogs operations in which state actors, crime syndicates, and even undergraduates used Claude for spying, data theft, and zero-day hunting.

Anthropic's September threat intelligence report covers operations it identified and disrupted between December 2025 and August 2026 in which threat actors used Claude for what it calls malicious activity. It spans seven harm areas, including cyber operations, influence operations, surveillance, scams and fraud, biological misuse, conventional weapons development, and distillation. The headline finding: because AI has collapsed the labor and tooling gap between well-resourced state actors and individual operators, "sophistication has stopped being a reliable signal of who is behind an operation."

Case studies include a Russian state-nexus espionage actor (tracked as Midnight Blizzard) that ran an AI-orchestrated campaign against Ukrainian, European, and drone-supply-chain targets, exfiltrating more than 300,000 national identity records and 500,000 company registry records. A financially motivated "smash-and-grab" group mass-downloaded 1.8 million Android APKs and scanned them for hardcoded secrets, and undergraduates in Hunan, China used swarms of AI agents to surface previously unknown vulnerabilities in a major endpoint-security product.

Shin Jin-seo Breaks Through Against KataGo

The Korean pro beat the KataGo engine by 4.5 points, capping a match being called the biggest human-versus-AI showdown since AlphaGo.

Shin Jin-seo defeated KataGo by 4.5 points, the first professional breakthrough against the AI in this series, and the win sets up a series decider in a three-game match. The result lands in a season of high-profile human-versus-machine tests.

The Korea Economic Daily is describing the series as the biggest human-AI showdown since AlphaGo. A professional win at this level is notable in Go, a game AI has dominated for more than a decade, and it keeps the decider alive.

ServiceNow pitches a $600B AI opportunity to its partners

At its Global Partner Summit in New York, ServiceNow framed AI as a $600 billion market across workflow, CRM, and security, with partners now central to its go-to-market motion.

ServiceNow's Global Partner Summit, held in New York, centered on what the company calls an AI-first transformation agenda. Paul Fipps, president of Global Customer Operations, put the addressable market for AI across ServiceNow's workflow, CRM, and security businesses at $600 billion and argued the company is effectively a major security player, citing its Veza and Armis acquisitions to claim the position of the eighth largest pure-play cyber company in the world by revenue. The AI Control Tower, introduced in June 2026, was positioned as the governance layer for discovering, securing, and monitoring AI models and agents built on Bedrock, Azure AI, Anthropic, or OpenAI.

The channel story dominated the messaging: more than 90 percent of net-new business involves a partner, partners source over 50 percent of net-new logos, and Fipps said deals get roughly twice as big when partners engage. SVP Michael Park, who leads global partnerships and channels, noted partners do 90 percent of deployments, and the summit targeted ServiceNow's top 5 percent of partners. CRM was a particular focus, appearing in 16 of the top 20 deals last quarter.

ServiceNow closed September 11 at $132.53, up 1.04%, beating the S&P 500's 0.86% gain as investors weigh roughly 20% revenue growth estimates against a rich multiple.

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) closed its September 11 session at $132.53, up 1.04%, outpacing the S&P 500 (+0.86%), the Dow (+0.98%), and the Nasdaq (+0.96%). ServiceNow's VS Code AI Experience Lab signals a code-first turn for UI development

A free VS Code extension for building ServiceNow experiences is nudging developers from visual configuration toward code-first, AI-assisted workflows without retiring UI Builder.

A NowBen analysis of ServiceNow's AI Experience (AIUX) tooling argues the platform is shifting toward a more developer-friendly, code-first, AI-assisted way of building experiences. The centerpiece is the ServiceNow AI Experience Lab for VS Code, a free extension that brings familiar pro-code workflows to ServiceNow: local project structures, Git source control, CLI-based builds and deployments, reusable web components, and AI-assisted coding.

The piece frames UI Builder and the new tooling as complementary rather than competing. UI Builder remains the visual, low-code path for quick changes, while the VS Code-based flow targets complex, reusable experiences. It also argues the developer role is evolving from writing every line to defining what needs to be built, reviewing implementations, and guiding the AI, with JavaScript and TypeScript, web components, the ServiceNow SDK, and Git flagged as the skills worth building.
